A Comparison of Fat Trees and Express Cubes
نویسندگان
چکیده
We compare two types of multiprocessor interconnection networks, fat trees and express cubes. Sample networks of each type were designed using realistic hardware constraints. We model different communication patterns on them and compute metrics such as average hop count, average latency, and bisection bandwidth, and show approximate costs for each network in terms of router and wire counts. Results show that two dimensional express cubes provide slightly lower hop counts across most communication patterns, andprovide much lower hop countswhen communicatingdirectlywith neighbors. Threedimensional express cubes have slightly higher hop counts, but have a larger bisection bandwidth than similar fat trees.

A Comparison of Wormhole-Routed Interconnection Networks
Fat-trees and low dimensional cubes have raised a great interest in the scientiic community in the last few years and are emerging standards in the design of intercon-nection networks for massively parallel computers. In this paper we compare the communication performance of these two classes of interconnection networks using a detailed simulation model which describes both the in-terconnection...
متن کاملk-ary n-cubes versus Fat Trees
In this paper, we examine performance aspects of fat-tree topologies and compare these to k-ary ncube topologies. In particular, we apply the analytic techniques developed for cube topologies upon fat trees to understand better the characteristic of that topology. The organization of this paper is as follows: Section 1 contains an overview of k-ary n-cube and fat-tree topologies. Section 2 cont...
متن کاملAn Investigation on the Stability of Rubble Mound Breakwaters with Armour Layers of Antifer Cubes
This paper presents the results of hydraulic model tests on the stability of rubble mound breakwaters with armour layers of antifer cubes. The tests were performed using irregular waves. The effect of wave parameters and the structure slope on the stability of these artificial armour units has been investigated and the stability formulae have been derived. Finally a comparison between these for...
متن کاملNetwork Performance under Physical Constraints
The performance of an interconnection network in a massively parallel architecture is subject to physical constraints whose impact needs to be re-evaluated from time to time. Fat-trees and low dimensional cubes have raised a great interest in the scientiic community in the last few years and are emerging standards in the design of interconnection networks for massively parallel computers. متن کامل-graceful labelings of partial cubes
7 Partial cubes are graphs that allow isometric embeddings into hypercubes. -graceful labelings of partial cubes are introduced as a natural extension of graceful labelings of trees. It is shown that several classes of partial cubes are -graceful, for instance even 9 cycles, Fibonacci cubes, and (newly introduced) lexicographic subcubes. The Cartesian product of -graceful partial cubes is again...
